This week’s fix has to start with the head coach, who thinks time of possession is the least important statistic in all of sports. Chip Kelly likes to say it measures nothing more than how much time a team spends standing around in its huddle. To score points, you have to run plays. The more plays, the better.
But Kelly has to adjust his thinking on this, at least for Sunday’s game in Green Bay or it’s going to be a very long afternoon for his team.
