Broncos place Nate Irving on injured reserve

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — With two starting linebackers already missing games because of injuries, the Denver Broncos decided Thursday they couldn’t wait any longer on Nate Irving’s recovery.

Irving, who was the Broncos’ starting middle linebacker, was moved to injured reserve Thursday because of a knee injury. The Broncos had also put in a waiver claim for linebacker Todd Davis, who had been released by the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, and were awarded Davis on Thursday.
