Bengals among teams visited by DEA

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals were among several NFL road teams checked by federal drug agents Sunday afternoon as they were departing New Orleans, a team spokesman confirmed Monday.

ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” reported Sunday that agents from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration had conducted surprise inspections that targeted the medical and training staffs of visiting NFL teams. The DEA’s goal was to determine whether the teams had violated federal drug laws governing the handling and distribution of prescription painkillers, “Outside the Lines” learned.
