Carson Palmer has successful ACL surgery; Bruce Arians hopes he returns by July 1

TEMPE, Ariz. — Surgery to repair Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer’s torn right ACL on Tuesday went “great,” coach Bruce Arians said.

Arians said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday night that the surgery also repaired “very, very small cartilage” damage in addition to Palmer’s ACL.

“Everything else was intact and fine,” Arians said.

Palmer told Arians he’ll be back on the field for 2015 organized team activities (OTAs), the coach said, but Arians is skeptical his 34-year-old quarterback, who turns 35 in December, will be back that quickly.
